Just open device manager, go in Human Interface Devices and right click and disable everything named "HID-compliant consumer control device"Įdit2: Forgot to mention that I'm on Windows 11, although the process should be the same on Windows 10. It doesn't mess with any of your peripherals from what I've seen. Hopefully this'll help some of you who just wanna play the game!Įdit: I also forgot to say that I did disable the HID stuff in Device Manager too, so that might have helped for it to work. Only thing is, you gotta do the CPU cores thingy every time you launch Steam and want to play Prototype 2. I can now run the game without lag whatsoever. That fixed it for me, I tried to include as many of my issues in here so it can easily be found if someone has the same issues as I do. ![]() So I went on Task Manager, clicked the Details tab, then found the steam.exe, right click, set affinity and then deselect every core you see and keep the CPU 0 and CPU 1 and then launch the game! I then lost myself for a good 2 hours on internet and found a forum saying to launch Steam with 2 cores and then to launch the game. Then, the game launched but crashed at the "Radical" screen. This time, I got the message that prototype2.dll was missing and decided to say fuck it and just remove the compatibility mode (after I renamed the file to its original name of course). I then changed it for Windows 7, since it's the recommended OS for it and tried again. I then went and checked the compatibility function and it was showing that it was running in compatibility mode on Windows 98. What I found is that if I renamed the file prototype2.dll to PROTOT~1engine.dll, the game was able to launch without any issues but once in game, I had like 10 fps (which is not normal at all when having a full gaming PC). I have seen absolutely 0 posts aside from some random forum mentioning it and even then there wasn't any solution to it. Normally, when I downloaded the game, it told me "error something something missing PROTOT~1engine.dll". Find the best sales, deals, and discount voucher codes. You should limit your frame rate to 60 by using V-Sync or other frame rate limiting methods and software.Okay so this is gonna serve as a beacon to humanity or whatever trying to launch the game. Go inside, Open the 'Prototype 2' Folder. ![]() Go into My Documents (Or in my case OneDive/Documents). Disable the automated sync of saves accross PC's. The game engine does not function properly if the frame rate exceeds 60 FPS. Log on to Steam (Online Mode) Find the Prototype 2 Game and access the options (right click on the game in steam). Locate Prototype 2 in your Steam library, right click on it, open "Properties." and type in "LAUNCH OPTIONS" (use any resolution you want, but always use 60 at the end) ![]() Check "Disable full-screen optimisations" under "Compatibility" in the properties menu If you still encounter issues, try verifying the integrity of your game's files. Find "Compatibility Mode", check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose "Windows 7" from the list Navigate to the "Compatibility" tab in the menu Find "prototype2.exe", right click on it and choose "Properties" (it's on the bottom) Step two:- Locate your Prototype 2 directory (D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Prototype 2 by default)
